[He doesn't answer the first part. He's not really okay at all. He's mentally exhausted from taking care of Onoda and the more numb and quiet he can be the better. Onoda's asleep as it is, for the time being, with Kageyama in the opposite bed, watching his chest rise and fall from across the room.]
[Hinata sits up, gathering his things. He was hanging out in the cafeteria, but suddenly he doesn't have much of an appetite. Kageyama doesn't sound okay from these texts at all. He needs to check on him. Logically, he knows that Kageyama is texting him like this, so he's probably not in trouble. However, all that he can think of is Yachi and the classroom of blood.]
[Hinata doesn't answer, and instead makes his way to the dorm rooms. Nowadays it doesn't take him long to find them even with the constantly shifting state of the hallways. When he enters the room, he's as quiet as he's capable of being, despite the cringey sound of the door creaking open. He carefully shuts his door and crosses the room to sit down next to Kageyama. He definitely looks way too worried, and feels quite helpless. He can't even bring himself to look over at Onoda, too weak to potentially see an injury right now, apparently.]
Are you okay? [He asks again, even though there's probably not much he can do. He knows that both of them are pretty sensitive to this kind of thing. What happened to playing volleyball every day? He misses when the most dramatic and complicated thing of his life was the Spring Tournaments and stupid fights with his partner.]
[There's a small shake of his head as he stays silent, not looking at Hinata directly. The small weight of him beside him is enough to let him know that he's really there. Kageyama's palms are set atop his knees, squeezing and releasing as if to calm himself down. It doesn't do much.]
I don't...want you to end up like him.
[Him being the boy currently occupying Hinata's bed.]
If I go missing or something happens to me...if your life will be put at risk don't look for me.
That's stupid. [Immediate response. He doesn't even have to think about it.] I don't want you to end up like that either, so of course I'd look for you!
[He realizes that his volume got a little high there, so he quickly returns to a whisper.]
I don't... [There's a second where he struggles with his words, and then he averts his eyes.] You said his friend died, right? I...don't want you to die. So if you go missing, I'd probably...
[He trails off. Even the thought of it makes his chest hurt a bit.]
I'd definitely go crazy. So just don't disappear, got it?
[Ah. Right. Volume. He bites his lip, turning to look at Hinata for a brief moment before he can't stand it anymore and returns to burning holes into his thighs with his gaze.]
[He manages to keep his voice down, but his whisper is harsh. He's glaring holes into Kageyama's head right now. There's no way he'd ever just sit there and wait for Kageyama to come back when he could be dying or something.]
[Alright. That does it. See Kageyama's hand? Where is it going? Oh yes, that's right, right over Hinata's big, dumb mouth. He plants his palm there, glaring at the other boy, his voice a harsh whisper.]
Shut up! Okay, fine! Whatever! Look for me! Just keep it down, dumbass!
[Hinata actually growls as he struggles against Kageyama's hand for a second, but he's quick to settle down with a scowl. He's not saying anything, but he'll cooperate. Let go of his damn face you stupid volleyball idiot. He pulls on Kageyama's hand with his own somewhat uselessly.]
[What are you, a dog? The growl gets a raised eyebrow from the setter before he lets Hinata's face go and returns his hand to himself. Now what? An awkward silence settles between them as Kageyama opts to stare at his pillow instead of Hinata. Maybe if he just lay down and closed his eyes he could forget for a little while how shitty this place was.]
[Hinata flops face down on the bed before Kageyama has a chance to. He doesn't look up at him, but he quietly mutters into the pillow, just loud enough for Kageyama to hear.]

If I die and I find out you almost got killed trying to save me I'll haunt you for the rest of your life.

[Hinata crosses his arms and huffs petulantly, quickly trying to quiet himself down afterwards.]
Well-- You'd come after me too, wouldn't you?

[As if that's a question. What a stupid question. God.]

[He's clearly pouting and scowling at him. Kageyama isn't allowed to be a hypocrite here.]
