[He knows he's worrying Hinata but there's not much he can do about it. He's never been good at lying and so omitting the truth is the only way to go about all of this. There's a nod at the smaller boy's suggestion. Even if he doesn't eat anything at least he can get something to drink. Milk doesn't seem like a bad idea right now.]
[Hinata pulls him int he direction of the cafetria, then lets go of Kageyama's sleeve. It's a little embarrassing to have to pull him through the school, after all.]
They'll probably have milk! [God, he just wants to see Kageyama be his normal apathetic, cranky self. He doesn't like seeing him sad like this. He hates it. He'll do anything to make it stop.]
[More like he knows they will, unless they're somehow mysteriously out. Which they better not be. Today's already been shitty enough as it is. Falling in step just slightly behind Hinata he lets him lead the way, shoving his hands into his pockets.]
[Hinata's not stupid though. Usually when people tell him to drink milk, it's because he's so small. His gaze is suspicious, feeling as though he's been insulted somehow, but not necessarily wanting to start a fight when Kageyama is feeling down already.]
[Hinata eyes him with another dubious look, then slumps his shoulders and keeps his eyes on the hall in front of him so he doesn't stupidly crash into something. Of course, he narrowly avoids an open door, stumbling around it and nearly bumping into Kageyama. This is why you keep your eyes on the road, Hinata!]
Geh-- [He collects himself a second later.] Is that why you're so good at volleyball?
[You're only in the main lineup because his tosses keep you there!!! Although that's not entirely true now. Hinata has improved, Kageyama will admit that much.]
[Hinata purses his lips and mumbles, pouting a little bit as he shuffles his feet forward. They round the corner, where they find the vending machines where they've always stood. As always, the snacks that Hinata wants are out of stock almost as soon as he gets there, but there's always various juices and milks. (Though never the exact flavor he wants, so frustrating!)]
I waaant... [He pauses thoughtfully, then presses the button down, producing a strawberry milk box.] This! I haven't had this kind in a while!
[The boy steps back, giving Kageyama room to move in and choose as well.]
[He wastes no time jabbing his fingers against the button for his selection, watching as the machine slowly whirs into action, his milk box dropping with a dull thud into the receptacle. He grabs it with ease, popping the straw in before shoving it between his lips. It's cool and fresh, nothing fancy - just regular ordinary milk.]
Yeah! I haven't had it in a while... It's pretty good! You wanna try?
[Hinata pulls the straw out of his mouth and offers it to Kageyama, not giving a single shit about shared germs. It's not like it'd be the first time. He steals Kageyama's water all the time.]
[He doesn't bother taking the box from Hinata, opting to bend slightly to meet where his hand holds it instead. He also doesn't think much of sharing; Hinata's been stealing his water and bites of his food for months now. It's just normal at this point.]
Right? [Hinata practically sparkles when Kageyama gives him a positive response. Even though he's still subdued, that's a start! He'll count it as a minor success.] Do you want something to eat too? They have, um...
[The assortment today is sort of lacking, but there's...fruit in here at least.]
[Even if Kageyama doesn't want one right now, he might get hungry later. When that happens, Hinata-sama will be there for him! He'll keep his setter's emotions happy to the best of his ability.]
Wanna go to the courtyard? [Some fresh air ought to help. And it's hard to get sad when there's a cherry tree. ...Unless you're climbing it, apparently.]
[Hinata-sama. Only in your wildest fantasies. There's a bit of a grunt coupled with a nod as he brings his straw back to his lips to chew on absentmindedly. Fresh air doesn't seem like a bad idea at all.]
[With a small group of bananas wrapped in his arms and a milk box in his mouth, Hinata starts off to the courtyard. He glances back to make sure Kageyama is following, fully prepared to grab his hand and pull him along if he moves too slowly. He's sure that Kageyama can keep up, though.]
I wish there was somewhere in the school where we could watch movies or something! Doesn't that sound like fun? I kinda miss anime sometimes...!!
[He never watched that much back home, but it was still something to pass the time and calm his nerves on occasion when he was too anxious with nothing to do at home. Plus, Natsu really liked them too... He liked watching tv with her.]
[No need to pull him along, Hinata. He'll follow of his own accord and keep up. He's the one with longer legs, after all. Hinata's comment is strange enough (or well, out of the blue) for him that it distracts Kageyama from his inner turmoil. Frankly, he's kind of surprised.]
...You watch anime?
[Okay so it's not that weird, at least everyone has watched anime at some point in their lives. Still it's not really something he knew about Hinata before; in fact he doesn't really know much about the other boy at all. They usually end up talking about volleyball and nothing else, after all.]
There's a guy here that's going to start up an anime club, I think.

[Ah- dodging this spazzlord. At least you're too small to knock him over harharhar.]
I'm good at volleyball because I use my brain and practice a lot. Maybe if you used your head more you'd be better.

[He's extraordinary, Kageyama. Get on his level.]
Just cause you're a little better than me doesn't mean you get to act all cool and senpai-ish about it. Jerkiyama.
